President
James has served as Athens’ President since 2006, but his roots in insurance nearly span a lifetime. His passion for the industry started in his high school days when he worked in the family insurance business.
Of his many accomplishments, James is most proud of the growth Athens has experienced and the company culture he’s helped cultivate. Under his leadership, top line revenues have grown by more than 300%, and Athens has grown from a niche-focused California workers’ compensation TPA to a company that offers Workers’ Compensation, Property and Casualty and Managed Care services on a nationwide basis.
James spearheads the “people powered” culture at Athens, which has resulted in the company being regularly voted a best place to work in the local areas where Athens does business. In recent years, Athens’ three largest offices have been voted Best Places to Work.
When the unexpected occurs, James draws on his decades of experience to find the best solution. He works through even the steepest challenges quickly, arriving at the fair and thoughtful solution that benefits everyone involved.
James earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Saint Mary’s College, as well as an MBA from the University of San Francisco.
